On my period for a month

Can anyone tell me what this means ... Recently I’ve been having my period for Abt 3/half weeks I’ll get off and have white discharge from time to time and every month has been the same thing . (Usually my period is 7 days) what can this mean ? My doctor told me it’s normal and it happens but it never happened until after I had a dnc ..
