UK first ultrasound - wasn’t given doppler for heartbeat?

Hey ladies
Idk if this differs in countries or what but I wasn’t given a doppler to hear baby’s heartbeat today, we just had the standard ultrasound
Has anyone else had this happen? First baby so I’m none the wiser!
Either way baby looked all good & you could see the heartbeat flickering away on the screen, I was just really hoping to hear it and also know the heart rate :)

At the ultrasounds where I live they don’t do a Doppler. They’ll show you the baby, & you can usually see the flickering of the heartbeat. But until 12+ weeks they don’t even try a Doppler. I’ve never heard my baby’s heart beat at an ultrasound, just seen pictures of them.

My Dr won’t attempt to use the Doppler until 13w+ because she says before then it’s too inconsistent and freaks people out. But I bought a home Doppler myself and found the heartbeat at 10w1d 😬

Did you need an early once before 12 weeks? It may be too early if that’s why. Usually they play it out loud but they can often just get the reading so that could be why. I wouldn’t be worried if they said it looks normal :) x

I didnt get to hear it until i was 12/13 weeks. Everythings before that was just ultrasound

I didn’t hear it until my 3rd appt. they could see the heartbeat, but I didn’t hear it until like 9 weeks. They never listened to it at an ultrasound. They’d only look at the heart beat during the scans and listen to it at the appts

I’m in the states and while everyone around me seems to have heard their baby’s heartbeat at the first appointment, I didn’t.
