Is this normal toddler behavior?

This may be a really dumb question, but is my toddler naughty or is this normal?
He’s 14 months old and he gets into everything. I can’t set my phone down or a drink down anywhere because he immediately gravitates towards it and he throws tantrums when I take things away - he’ll fall to his butt and cry, he throws food in the floor, and he slaps. I try and tell him no, and obviously I know he’s young and he doesn’t quite understand. But I just feel like when I have company over people probably think omg he’s such a monster. He’s usually sweet and well behaved when he’s home and it’s just me and daddy here. And he should be pretty well adjusted to groups of people, he’s surrounded by other kids at daycare.

It’s normal. Set up your environment in a way that limits the need to tell him no, it can help eliminate power struggles. If he can’t have something it shouldn’t be at his level within reach. Redirect him instead of just saying no. For example he wants your phone tell him no thank you then give him something to do to distract him. If he is after your phone redirect him to his cars, a play phone ect..

It’s totally normal and it will pass. It’s his only way of communicating right now. I know it’s hard. Lots of redirecting, patience, understanding, and hugs. He needs to know that it’s okay for him to have big feelings that he doesn’t know what to do with yet. You’re sweet little boy is still there, he’s just learning how to navigate uncharted waters. You’re doing a great job!! 💕

Doesn’t sound like a monster, just a 14-month-old. Every kid has a different personality but they ALL have difficult phases.

It’s normal! Mine is the same and he’s 15 months. I have to hide things from him. He’s worse tho because when I say no he grins real big and then does it again or he’ll act like he’s moving on so I’ll look away and then he’s right back at it. He’s sneaky!!

My son did this alot they are not little monsters people around judge by one moment but you are the mom you know this is not true. My toddler used to hit other kids this phase was so hard for me because I didn’t like when he did it and I felt bad when he hit other kids on their hands it was beyond embarrassing it was frustrating as a parent that nothing got to him to stop. But at this age they have alot of impulses they cant control and also they are still learning to talk. I noticed my son hit when he wanted other kids to play with him but he was too young for them to play with he would get frustrated he couldn’t express what he felt and thats how he did it unfortunately by trying to get their attention hitting. Family even told me what were they watching at home my son only watches his kids shows and we barely watched tv and when we did we never watch anything with profanity or violence. Just dont let others couple of mins of seeing him in this behavior make him bad you know hes not and thats what counts. Also it seems like he just want to explore and grab everything so he throws a fit this is very normal he just wants to explore things around him he’s new to everything.
