Long story I won't get too far into, but I had a good friend in high school who stole a woman's purse. The man she was with chased him to the top of a parking structure. In my friends fear, he climbed over and hung there, hoping the guy wouldn't see him. He fell and died. He was 16. 
No. I won't chase a purse theif.
