Is it rude to ask your tattoo artist for a specific kind of shading.? Black n grey

My artist is great. Im getting flowers. She seems to mostly do whip shading in her flower tattoos. But i dont like whip shading so I wanna ask her to do another kind of shading. It's black n grey so I feel the shading matters more.

i don’t think it’s rude, ask see what they can do it’s your body and you are the one that has to live with it 
side note can i ask about the text on the bottom of the first photo

This artist is putting something on your body forever... you should never worry about asking them to do something different. Do you know that she is able to do this other kind of shading? Does she have any examples of it in her portfolio? And if not just be straight up and ask if she thinks someone else might be a better fit to do this particular tattoo and ask if she has any recommendations!

Never worry about asking an artist for what YOU want and what YOU are paying for. Ask them if they can do that type of shading because its what you prefer for this tattoo, if the artist is pissed then find another. I have three that do mine simply because they are all different styles. 
Don’t get something you’re gonna look at and think “I guess I can’t learn to love it.”

The second pic looks like stippling shading (if that's the shading you're talking about) and it's pretty similar to whip shading. The first pic looks that way because the artist used whip shading but made straight lines and didnt blend them. So if you show her the pic and tell her that's how you want the shading she will make it look like that doesnt matter how she achieves it

If a tattoo artist gets upset when a client asks for something in the art then find a new artist. They may be doing the work but you are wearing it. All my pieces have been designed by me while working with the tattoo artist and they want it to look good and the client to be happy. They may give you their opinion but if you decide to go against it they should agree without issue. Good luck hope the piece looks great!!
