She’s here and she’s perfect!
My labor went nothing like I thought I would but so worth it in the end!
3/24 I ended up going to labor and delivery around 10pm because I was having contractions for two hours every 2 minutes. We get there and I’m 0% dilated and my blood pressures ended up being high so they decided to admit me and induce me because I was technically full term (38w3days). Started with some pills to get induction started and then foley bulb got me to a 3 but then I stopped progressing. I was still at a 3 24 hours later. I decided to get an epidural once they started pitocin and the first one failed so they had to re do it and then at hour 30 the second one stopped working and they kept trying to give me higher doses of fluid through the epidural. That worked for about 3 hours then they came in and they broke my water because I only progressed to a 4. The contractions got so strong and the epidural wasn’t working and I was screaming in pain and they couldn’t figure anything out and wanted me to just labor like that because I had dilated to a 6 at hour 37. (I have so much respect for women that labor naturally!!) I couldn’t do it and I asked for a c-section and the doctors protested for a while but eventually caved and let me. They tried giving me a spinal block to do it and realized that did work and came to the conclusion that I have a band in my abdomen that is rare and so epidurals and spinal blockers just don’t work in that area and I ended up having to be put to sleep with anesthesia to deliver her at hour 40. I came out of that and had my perfect baby girl and everything was so worth it to see her!
