Hazel's birth story

Jade

I thought I would share my shortened version of my baby Hazel's natural birth story.

She was born at 38 + 6 weeks on March 12, 2020. The previous day at my 38 week appointment I got a cervical sweep done and started having contractions the next day but they weren't very strong and they were on and off. I went to bed waking up at 1 am and realized my contractions were timeable and consistent, down to 4 min apart.

I finally decided to head into the hospital anticipating a fast labor but contractions were not that painful so I wasn't sure if this was it.

At 845 they decided to keep me. I was 5 cm and having contractions consistently 4 min apart.

I had a wonderful labor...contractions didn't hurt and my husband and I had fun all day trying to keep labor going. We did dancing, walking, the ball, etc.

By mid afternoon I was about 5 1/2 cm. My doctor came and did a sweep and i was than about 6.5 cm. Also the nurse did one about 1.5 hours after him.

So by 5:15 pm things got intense and fast. I was 8.5 cm and this is when it actually felt more painful. I progressed so fast though I was at a 10 before I knew it. The nurse forgot to announce it though. At some point she called the doctor and got the room set up. But because I was on my side and facing the opposite direction I didn't know all of this was being done. I could feel my body pushing and my tone changed. I didn't think everyone who was supposed to be there would make it. But at the last second my mom than doctor walked into the room.

At 5:37 pm hazel was born after only 2 pushes and no pain medicine.

I am so happy with how the birth went and will always love this day!
