6m is aap, who, CDC and unicef recommendations due to gut maturity. (All drs are to follow those orgs, sadly many do not and are not up to date with current research)
Ready signs: at least 6m old, sitting UNASSISTED for at least 1min, has lost the tongue thrust reflex, has chewing motion and has actual interest in eating foods.

They need to reach the milestones of sitting up and controlling their head well before you should consider giving baby food.

Most baby jars say you can start at 4 months. People on here are biased and will get mad if you start feeding her before 6 months. I personally started at 5-5.5. Only rice cereal.

We started at 4 months with our first with stage 1 purees. Going to do exactly the same with our next. Don't care what the doctor says, I know what's best for my little one. So long as they're not behind in development they're ready. 
Make sure you get stage 1 purees though, and stick to those for about a month before going to stage 2 and so on. They get more and more challenging and slowly prepare baby for real chewing.
