Dropping day time nap?

When do toddlers start dropping naps? My little boy usually does at least an hour in the afternoon but wont go to bed until 10 sometimes 11 at night! (He does sleep in until like 9/10 in the morning) today he didnt nap in the day and was asleep before 8, does this mean he is ready to drop his day naps?

What time does he usually nap? He could be ready to drop his nap, or it could just be that he’s napping too late in the afternoon. The time he wakes up in the morning will affect the time he’s ready for nap, which then impacts bedtime. 
We found that our boys (4&2) are kind of rough if they don’t nap, but they don’t go to sleep for bedtime if they nap beyond certain times (3pm for 4yo, 4pm for 2yo). So they typically eat lunch between 1130am and 1pm, and they’re upstairs in bed by 115pm at the latest. We do quiet resting time on days when they don’t fall asleep. I’ve also found that if they sleep later than 8am, they aren’t ready for nap at the usual time, so then they either don’t nap or don’t nap for very long.

Sounds like he probably is ready to drop his nap. My son stopped napping consistently at 2 and by 2 and a half he never napped except a rare day he got super wore out if we did extra physical activities. My 2 year old still naps but yesterday it was only an hour and she has made it some days without a nap so i think she will stop soon
