I moved back into my parents’ house about a month ago with my fiancé (David) and 2 year old son (Ethan). I was really nervous because my dad is a toxic alcoholic but my mom swore that he was doing better. My dad and David also don’t get along because my dads had it out for him literally since the day he met him. To the point we had a miscarriage and my dad made up lies saying that I supposedly told him that my SO was happy about it to try to make everyone hate him.

Earlier today, David was talking to Ethan in the kitchen and i was putting on shoes in the other room because I planned on picking up something for dinner. When my dad heard David ask what Ethan wanted to eat, he started to tell David that he “needed to ask me before he takes Ethan” (it wasn’t even our plan). He didn’t say anything so I came back out and asked them if they had ideas. Before they can answer, my dad pushes into it and says “Ethan’s not leaving. I don’t know if you even care but we’re in the middle of a pandemic, just so you know, for his safety”. David was getting really annoyed (my dad does this to him all the time) and just sternly said “Don’t start with me, not in front of Ethan”. To which my dad replied that if he ever “yelled at him” again, he would break David’s neck and start to get closer to David’s face. At this point, Ethan was screaming at the top of his lungs for my dad not to hurt his daddy or even him 😭

My mom had basically ran downstairs and helped separate them & calm my dad down. When she tried to talk to us, my dad made up a bunch of lies, per usual. I just told him that it’s bad enough he damaged his own kids & to leave mine out of it then took Ethan for a walk until I knew he was sleeping.

My dad never apologized but now wants to play nice with all of us. I’m guessing he doesn’t want us to leave. But I no longer feel safe having Ethan here. I know for a fact that had my mom not come down when she did, he would’ve put his hands on David. Now Ethan won’t let David leave his sight 😢😢
