if i dont pump after every feed will it mess up my supply?  4weeks in & im in a great spot supply wise but i also pump after ever feed & have saved a lot so far (about 120oz) . but sometimes i do wait alil after cause baby wont go right to sleep or doing something for my 3 yr old.  any opinions

It’s more important how many times you nurse/pump in a 24 hour period. You need to do either one 8 times a day to keep your supply up in the beginning, and once your supply is established it drops down to 7 times in a 24 hour period to maintain it

My lactation consultant told me to just pump once a day so I usually just do it in the morning once after a feed.

Unless you need to go back to work soon I wouldn't pump at all after feeds. You're going to create a huge oversupply which is not as cool as it sounds. It can lead to plugged ducts and mastitis. If you don't need a huge freezer stash you should only pump to replace feeds

I skipped like 2-3 days of pumping and regret it. I feel like I fell out of the routine and am having trouble getting back into a good routine & our back up supply was used up, so now only a few bags left.

I’m so jealous. I haven’t been able to save any. Only getting 1-2 ounces 3x/day if I’m lucky. I can’t keep up with demand.

I think it depends on your body a little bit and why you are pumping. I think if you are trying to maintain your supply and create a freezer stash try to pump as often or almost as often as baby eats. I have an oversupply (I feed baby and still freeze 30 oz a day) so I pump to reduce my chance for clogged ducts that could lead to mastitis, plus I love building a freezer supply so that I can stop bf around 6 months and use my freezer stash to get baby to a year. So for me, I only pump 5 times/day not how many times baby nurses because I’m not trying to increase my supply.
