I just don't understand him

My boyfriend is generally a very bright man. In general he knows a lot and does a lot of research on different things as a hobby of sorts. He just likes learning I guess. But today we were arguing about the virus and he said something about how fatal it is. He said something like 96% death rate and I'm just like "wat" cause I look it up and I see 21%. He also said no one has recovered and I just can't with him right now. He is normally so intelligent and not ignorant at all

I was so frustrated I just gave up because it's not worth arguing about. What matters is we are both being safe and staying indoors
