7 week old sleep help!
For the past week and a half, we have been starting our day around 12-3pm. Obviously we are waking up every 2-3 hours to feed but our official “get out of the room and get productive” time has been in the afternoon. We’ve been doing this because at around the same time 5-10am baby boy will fight sleep and it will take hours to get him back to sleep, by the time we get him sleeping again we are so tired and end up waking up to our day basically halfway over.
We’ll spend the rest of the day trying to make up for the daylight productive time we lost. I’m currently taking classes online as well so I’ll find myself in an endless cycle of working on my classes or doing chores until 1am at night. My husband will be staying up as well because we are now so wide awake.
I don’t know how to stop this cycle. We tried everything from swaddling to rocking. Baby boy will fight as long as he can and if we get him to sleep, he’ll wake up five minutes later demanding to be held again. He’ll only calm down if we are swaying him gently while standing up, anything else will just make him mad.
I’m scared he is messing with his own sleep rhythm because then he’ll spend the rest of the day napping and be most active towards the night. We usually don’t try to wake him other than feedings and changing durning the day because of the rough mornings we have.
