How bad is postpartum bleeding?

How bad will it be healing after the baby is born. I bought giant 10 hour pads and adult diapers to double up on and wear but my MIL is saying I should also have a pad/liner down on the bed. Is it really going to be that heavy of a flow for 6+ weeks!?

It wasn’t for me, but everyone is different. I bled for 3 weeks with both kids. I used hospital pads until I ran out and then I’d switch to overnight heavy pads. My bleeding slowed down and was like a normal period after the first week and a half.

Not for that long. Yes, the bed liners were needed for me at the hospital but it was only in case my giant pad slipped that they gave me while I sleep or something. After I left the hospital, I took their giant pads with me and only needed them for maybe a week and a half and then I went to a heavy flow pad. You should be okay! But some people bleed longer than others so it might be different for you. But I was done bleeding completely at about 3 weeks pp, that includes like no spotting or anything.

I get horrible periods but honestly post part I’m bleeding was nothing compared to that.  But it’s different for everyone

If you’re going to wear one of those poise diapers I really don’t think you’ll need a pad for the bed. The really heavy bleeding is usually stopped by the time you leave the hospital. Most of my friends said they only even used the diapers for a few days then just switched to like an overnight pad for the next couple weeks. Very unlikely you’ll bleed for more than a month.

I bled heavily for 11 weeks. I had an old bath towel I kept on my side of the bed while I slept. One day I took a nap on the couch and woke up to the cushion covered in blood (dark brown couch thankfully). So I kept a towel there as well after that.
