May be the odd one out here but yes , I think marriage before kids. 
I’m not saying being married makes your relationship stronger or better. 
I’m not saying I care if other people aren’t married ( not my life not my business) 
I just would be married first .

No. Marriage is a piece of paper, nothing more. I've seen many married couples in toxic relationships and many people who didn't believe in marriage who had great relationships and a wonderful child raising environment. Doesn't matter. What matters is the couple.

We’re pretty traditional, so it was important to us. I understand it’s not important to a lot of people though.

I don’t think it’s a must for all couples but for me personally it was something I wanted to do before we began trying. That was an ideal I had established due to very personal reasons from a very early age.

I wanted to get married before having a baby so that I knew he was committed to me and would be committed to having a family with me. We dated for three years before we even got married just because I wanted to be sure. Even then we were engaged for a year. I've just seen it turn sour too many times when done the other way and I felt like marriage was him promising to be there no matter what. It's a big commitment. For me, if he couldnt commit to that he wouldn't be able to commit to a family.

It took us 2 years to get pregnant, and we got married during that time. So by the time we got pregnant we were married, but it could have happened before and that would have been fine. We’ve been together 7 years and married less than one. It’s about the commitment you have made together, and for us marriage was a reward for already making that commitment, it wasn’t the commitment itself.

Marriage is a piece of paper so no, I don’t think you have to be married. I think you should be fully committed and in a loving, trustworthy relationship, but marriage isn’t a necessity.

If you both WANT to get married before baby then more power to you. But if he doesn't want to, whatever the reason, even if you convinced him to it wouldn't be a good happy marriage. At least thats my opinion. A single mom is much better than a mom in an unhappy marriage.

If you know that person is truly committed and you are both ready for this next step then I would say go for it. Marriage without commitment is meaningless. But I will say you should eventually get married if you have a baby together. My brother-in-law was with someone for 15 years and they had 2 kids. She recently passed suddenly and because they weren’t married it was all a legal nightmare.
