Does anyone know why the black on his paws is chipping off ?

A skin on dog paws is just like a normal skin but thicker. When it’s dry it peels and new cells grow. The white coloured skin is peeling too, you just can’t see it beacuse it’s white. If you feel like it’s too dry, you can moisturise it with some moisturising cream.

Are you sure he just doesn’t have a bicolored pad? 
One of my dogs has a few toes with white and black pads like that.

I think his paws are bicolor pads. A lot of dogs have pink and black pads. :) No worries.

Is it just color or the padding they have on their paws? If its the padding I can help with a suggestion, my dogs was hanging half off when I adopted her.

The bottom of his paw is chipping off?? I've never heard of that. I'd call and ask your vet. I've heard of them cracking from being too try, but not coming off
