Csections to vaginal births?

Has anyone here had a emergency csection and then had a vaginal birth? If so.. how was it? Details please? I’m not sure if I should try and have a vaginal birth after a csection.

It just depends how long it has been since your c section. Usually they advise you to wait at least a year to 18 months. With my first I had an emergency c section then 8 years later I did a vaginal birth. I always thought you must always get a c section but the nurse advised me to ask my doctor about trying for vaginal. So vaginal went very well active labor lasted 15 minutes. I did get an epidural but I was able to move my legs and feel all the pushing more of just pressure but no pain. I would’ve wanted to do it without an epidural but my baby had pooped inside of me and my water broke so they needed me in bed monitoring him because every contraction I would get his heart level spiked up. I did have the nicu team ready to make sure he had not swallowed any poop. But everything went well, mind you I also had GD. His blood sugar levels were perfectly normal too. I was able to hold him right away and wasn’t out of it compared to when I got the c section. I would definitely do vaginal again if I decide to have another baby.

I am going to do my best to get a VBAC! We’ll see. You can watch the birth reborn on Netflix, it’s a foreign doc but gives a lot of good info about vaginal vs. c sections. I started listening to the birth hour podcasts for their VBAC birth stories and there’s one called VBAC link but I haven’t listened to it yet. I also read ina May gaskins guide to childbirth which talks about how to have less painful births without medication or interventions (because it’s the medical interventions that usually drive us to need c sections). 
Good luck mama! I am anxious and afraid of labor but trying to stay positive and remember why I don’t want to be put under the knife again!

Do drs even recommend vaginal after c section? I know you can do vaginal then c Section but I don’t know anyone who has done it the way you’re asking. I guess I thought it was more for you’re safety since you’re muscles are different after csections. 🤷🏻‍♀️ Have you asked your dr?

It is called a VBAC and becoming more common. I will be going for one in August. Really crossing my fingers! You can have a TOLAC (trial of labor after Cesarean) at least and then decide.
