Is a glass of wine okay?

I see so many people saying a glass of red wine while pregnant is alright, is that true?

I personally won't. I can go 9 months to be 100% sure my baby won't have complications due to alcohol. Other things may happen, but that is one thing I can control.

I have a glass of wine on occasion. But i make sure to not have any on an empty stomach, and no more than 1 serving size which i think is 5 oz. it’s frequent in lots of countries in Europe, but much less frequent in the US. There is a lot of stigma about it in the US. It has been studied and the studies out there are so-so. There’s an excellent discussion of it in Emily Oster’s book “Expecting Better” which breaks down the studies and the data without pushing an agenda either way.
If you do drink, you need to be completely sure you are not going to over indulge. Lots of people lose judgement as they drink, and the line between “Totally fine” and “serious harm to your baby” is not very far apart. If you think there is any chance you will not stop at a small amount, I would stay away entirely. Fetal alcohol syndrome is a devastating reality and needs to be taken very seriously.

It’s not worth it .. I would need atleast 2 glasses for any effects .. so def not worth risking my baby having birth defects for my own selfishness of not Being able to wait a few months.

I wouldn’t drink personally. Its defiently not safe by any means, no amount of alcohol is safe during pregnancy. I’m okay with giving it up for 10 months to have a healthy little bean! 💙 
And personally, my own thoughts and opinions are I’d never be able to drink knowing that I’m pregnant and growing another person.

I am not a medical professional but my doctor said a glass of wine, or low alcohol beverage like a white claw on occasion in the second or third trimester is not going to hurt. She said to me if you’re having any complications like high blood pressure or Gestional diabetes it would be best to stay away but as long as your not drinking regularly and or heavily fetal alcohol syndrome will not result from one drink.

I have no idea where people are getting this information. Never has a health professional told me that alcohol while pregnant is okay. Not even a drop. It hasn’t been studied because no one is willing to risk it. The only thing that has been studied is fetal alcohol syndrome which is very real and a very real concern.

Try some dealcoholized wine! I got a bottle of dealcoholized cabernet sauvignon and it was surprisingly amazing! It has an alcohol percentage of 0.05% alcohol by volume.

No amount of alcohol has been proven to be safe during pregnancy. The risk isn't worth it for me personally but at the end of the day that is a choice you make for yourself whilst being aware of and ready to accept any consequences that come from it.
