Finding baby’s heart beat at home?

I’ve had some people say it wasn’t safe to use an at home machine to locate babies heart beat. Why is that? I really wanted to buy on around 12 weeks or so. I’m 8 weeks right now. But just want to hear why maybe it’s not a good idea? If I do buy one I’ll be using it every day I feel like (not really lol) 😂

Do not get one then. Your not supose to use it more than once a week for 1 min, because there are risks using them to much. Moms freak themselves out by using them to early, and by the time you could use them at home reliably the babys moving. Drs dont use them before 13 weeks. At home most women dont find it by 16 weeks. Moajorty of women on here saying they found it at 8 or 9 weeks dont find there heartbeat. They find there own or the placents sounds

In addition to what other posters have said: most doctors don’t recommend using one as women will use it to reassure themselves that the baby is fine when they should have actually gone to the doctor (like in the case of reduced fetal movements, etc)

Its safe to use. The problem is Moms using them too early or not knowing how to find the heartbeat and freaking out.

By the time I felt comfortable using mine at home I was already feeling the baby kick and that was way more reassuring than hearing the heart beat. The doctor checked the heart beat and I would hear it at every appointment. I recorded it so I could listen to it on my phone if I just wanted to hear it. 
I think I read somewhere that the Doppler waves can raise the temperature of the amniotic fluid? Or something like that. So you’re supposed to really limit the use of it to a few minutes once every few weeks.

I borrowed my sisters Doppler. There is no documented risk to baby, only thing you have to remember is you may not always find it. I just heard it for the 1st time today at 10weeks,6 days. Doctor tried at 10weeks 4 days and didn’t find it so then did ultrasound. 
My heart rate is naturally slow and very prominent on the Doppler, so I knew when I heard baby’s it was definitely different. It’s important to count beats if you do get one, babys was around 170ish which is what it was at the doctors.

My dr still had trouble finding baby’s heartbeat at 16 weeks so I never bothered with one since it’s so close to feeling baby move at that point
