Is it right for someone to use your EBT card for Foodstamps?

I recently got accepted to Foodstamps after a year w/out it.

After I got the card, I was told by my stepdad that it’s his card now after buying all that food he’s bought for us.

I would think now I would have my own Foodstamps card. It would just be for me and my child not for everyone to use.. I was kinda pissed at this cause I thought now I don’t have to worry about it. Asking for money.. (just note, we do have jobs but been layed off for three months.. so no income and we’ve spent a ton of food for our son) but yea, basically we cannot have my card back and my stepdad told me to just have my sons dad apply himself to get $$ but which doesn’t make sense .. like would’ve he be getting less money than me. Since it’s just him himself.. I don’t think that would even help us out on any food hardly for my son. Do you think it’s right he took my card to use it on (my stepdad, mom, lil sis, brother) & if we needed anything to we just ask and they go get it..

All I said to my stepdad is this is my card and I don’t want to get in trouble for it. For giving them my card..

That if they needed anything.. ANYTHING to just let me know and make a list so I can go out and buy everything when I’m out in the store..

That’s what they use to tell me is to make a list and they’ll go buy it.. so was it wrong of me to say that also to him? Cause he threw a whole fit over it. So did my mom. & told me I wasn’t allowed to leave the house.. whatsoever all because I wanted to go out and use my new card w/money to buy FOOD! Of all things for mostly my son and a couple things for me.. and they told me NO! I couldn’t use it that that’s their money and not mine. It’s either give them the card or pay bills! Which is outrageous knowing we don’t have a job anymore we’ve all been home w/no income.. barely have $200 in our pocket. Like? I was so heated to the point I was going to give them my card then call the card line to say it’s been stolen.. but I just don’t understand why.. they would be like that they will not give it back..

should I just put my foot down and tell them to give my card back? Or should I just let them keep it?

I just know w/my sons dad only applying himself only he’s probably going to get less than I’m getting.. and usually I buy $200 worth of food for my son and not even me just my son.. should I make rules for how much they spend on food if they keep it.. just what should I do.. if I take the card back Ik they’ll throw a HUGE fit and yell at me.

I just do not want to get in trouble w/anything.. especially since my name is on that card and that card was suppose to be for me and my son. Like that’s what’s so freaking frustrating that money was to feed our mouths not all of theirs.. they aren’t even on my Foodstamps .

I’m only getting money for basically two only.. me & my son. Not a family of 7!

If I decide to take back my card.. I would have to pay bills which I can’t rn until my job opens back up which the managers are the only one their currently working and we can’t work yet until it’s Ig safer.

I feel like if I do take it back they’ll kick me out or worse keep talking shit to me. How they did yesterday to the point I gave them my card and left to make them shut up.

& I’ve read online it’s ok to give a parent your card to use or so I’ve read online.. but idk.

Update: we don’t have a job due to the epidemic we do work.. but, can’t anymore until everything opens.. so we can’t pay bills..

By the way, I never said I wasn’t going to help out w/any food. I just said I would rather go out and get it myself it would make me feel 10x better if I bought the food myself.. I never once said I wasn’t going to contribute to the house.. all I told them was to make a list and I would go by whatever I could after buying my sons food first! since my name is on the card and my ID has my name as well to confirm I’m the rightful person of the card. I don’t need them checking one day unexpectedly asking for id and I get in trouble. But they seem to not get that.. no one else is on my Foodstamps list besides me and my son! But they said

I’m going to waste the money on junk please note I don’t eat much I eat what I could find.. i don’t eat cookies, chips, drink sodas, non of that I’ll buy 6 items and that’s it and that lasts me a week and then whatever I can make I make if I find some I’ll eat it.. just idk. If I ask for the card today back to buy food for my son they will probably most likely not give it to me. They’ll say no your going to spend it on junk. & then continue to say we’ll go shopping tomorrow just make a list.. but when I make a list of my sons food ONLY I never ask for food.. they’ll get hardly anything on the list.. my mom will buy JAR foods! My son is a year! & he should be eating solids.. I go buy him Earths Best Organic Nuggets or their pancakes/waffles I buy him Actual food! I’ll buy him pouches of the foods but that’s only cause he HOLDS them and that’s only on the go food. Just idk. I don’t trust them buying his foods.
