Am I over reacting??

Ok so a couple weeks back I shared a post on Facebook about a mama who’s baby boys circumcision went terribly wrong. And I put a comment saying “this is why I don’t personally want to have my son circumcised if it was made that way it can stay that way” now before anyone thinks I’m attacking them for circumcising their baby I’m ABSOLUTELY NOT!! It’s to each their own, by all means!! You’re the mama you know what’s best! But my SO mother, aunt, and grandmother saw it and they all decided to take it upon themselves to call him and tell him how we NEEDED to circumcise our son for all these different reasons and how I’m wrong for not wanting to do it. Mind you they think they know it all because their nurses, but I’m a medical assistant. So while I might not know as much as a nurse does, we did learn about things like this. As well as I’ve done my own research and since there’s nothing making it absolutely medically necessary I discussed it with my SO and explained why I didn’t want to do it. Saying with proper hygiene he should have absolutely no problems . He agreed and said we shouldn’t do the circumcision. But now that his family got involved he’s insisting we have to do the circumcision because that’s what “he” wants and he’s the father so I have to respect that. So now I feel like I’m being bullied into doing something I’m completely not for by him and his family. Mind you this isn’t the first time his mom has made my pregnancy and child about her . Am I over reacting to be mad at them for butting in? Especially his mother who hasn’t even talked to me in months because she’s upset she wasn’t invited to the gender reveal that I did impromptu the day of so no one was invited, especially not someone who lives a hour away and wouldn’t be there before dark 🙄

Honestly just don’t post and announce what you plan to do with your child’s genitals 🤷🏼‍♀️ then no one can have an opinion on the matter. I find it so weird that people need to announce what they’re doing or not doing with their baby’s penis, no one knows what my son’s penis looks like except the few people that change his diaper and his doctor

I don't think you are overreacting. If you agreed upon it before with your husband, he should 100% have your back. He also shouldn't pull that "because I'm the father" - card because he agreed on not doing it before so it's not like he was personally invested. Also you're the mother hence your baby is 50% each and you should both agree on it even if you don't have a penis, neither does his mom.. Since you had already agreed. He should have revisited the topic iso changing his mind and pulling veto because he has a penis.

Do not let his family bully you. Yes he's the father and you should take it into consideration but if it's not medically necessary then stand your ground on not doing it

Go with your gut on this! We too are choosing not to circumcise our boy, I let my husband decide (he was circumcised as a baby) & he sees it as mutilation.
You should sit down and have a conversation about this so you can get all of it out on the table, it will be worth it

Y'all's child y'all's decision. He needs to decide on his own what he wants and y'all need to discuss it. Your family should never be a weighing factor!

I’d definitely have a serious discussion with him about whether he really feels that way, or if it’s because of his family. For him to all of a sudden change his mind when they got involved doesn’t seem right. I’d hate for you to end up doing something you regret. And imo, it doesn’t matter if he’s a man or not, your baby is 50% yours so you get 50% of the say.

What you do with YOUR SONS penis isn’t anyones business, nor your families, and certainly not strangers online. Parents have their own reasons for doing what they do and NO parent should feel REQUIRED to explain why they made the decisions they made for THEIR child. I have already made my decision with my son and no one in my life can change it because he’s my son. If they want to have a say they can go back about 30 years and have another baby 🤷🏻‍♀️

My son is circumcised but idc what anyone else does with their sons penis. I’ve gotten into arguments with people on here because they talk shit about my opinion so we go back & forth but no one can tell you what to do with your sons penis. You tell your husband that you guys WILL NOT be getting him circumcised & that’s it! End of discussion! & when those people walk into your room in the hospital & ask if you want your son circumcised you say NO guess who the nurses are going to listen to? YOU! So don’t let ANYONE tell you what to do with your son!
