Yes. I got job offers doing the same job I was doing for more money. I told my employer “I have an offer on the table for $— amount of money. I’d love to stay here, but money is important. I’d like to be paid $— or I will be accepting this other position.” One time it worked and they ended up paying me more than I was requesting, the other time it didn’t and I accepted the other job. I’m not a huge fan of ultimatums but you gotta do what you gotta do.

I always negotiate salary. If you don’t ask, you won’t get anything other than the offer. It’s not always negotiable but it is almost always appropriate to inquire.

Yes, I did not get any more then they offered originally but still got the job. 
Sometimes you get more and sometimes you dont.
