How would you describe labor pain?

Question

My son is head down and has been punching me or maybe head butting me in the cervix. It causes me a sharp and uncomfortable pain when he does it. (36 weeks) 
I am wondering if labor is more like that or more like really intense cramps?? 
Like would you describe it as more sharp or more achy? 
Asking just for reference. I think I could handle intense achy cramps but it if it is sharp pain like that sign me up for an epidural 🤣

For me it started out like normal cramps that progressed to the worst period cramps of my life to. At the end all I remember is repeatedly saying I felt like I needed to poo. Felt like intense constipation/period cramps — don’t resist the urge! 
I didn’t get an epidural — seriously thought about it at the very end.

For me, it started out as a mixture of really bad diarrhea pain mixed with period cramps. They turned into literally the worst pain I’ve ever felt in my entire life. It felt like someone was crushing my entire body and I was paralyzed to do anything about it. I couldn’t breathe, think, or speak during the contractions. I was only 1-2 cm dilated and they were less than a minute apart. Some even 10 seconds apart. I dealt with that for 6 hours and then they gave me the epidural and pitocin. After 36 total hours of labor, I had to have an emergency c-section. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Like someone stuck a crowbar between my hips and was cranking them open. I don’t get period cramps, so I’m not sure if I could describe them the same way. My mom got bad cramps and said labor pains were about the same.
