Are these contractions?

Okay soooo FTM here, today I’ve been having this back ache that radiates to my belly and it’s so uncomfortable. It comes and goes and when it comes it’s just annoying like not painful where I want to cry but definitely has me breathing different. It resembles like the back ache you get right before your period starts. I’m 36 weeks +3 days. The first time I experienced this was 2 nights ago.

My midwife JUST used those exact words to me to describe what to expect when real contractions start... From the back, kind of wrapping/radiating to the front, a lot of the times more like pain based on the pressure itself.

I had this happening 3 weeks ago, I called my OB and they told me if I felt that more than 4 times in an hour to go in to l&d, I did, so I went in and I was having real contractions.

They could be Braxton hick but also if they are painful could be the real deal
