Is he going to come early?!?

I had what was supposed to be my last ultrasound yesterday at 32w1d. He’s measuring at 5lbs3oz (which is about 3 weeks bigger than he’s “supposed” to be) does him being big mean he’s going to come early or will I just have like a 10lb baby?!? 😳

Dont listen to ultrasounds. They can be off 2lbs up or down. My 2nd baby was supposedly "8lbs" at an ultrasound when I was 36 weeks. My ob said due to my fundal height also measuring larger that she would likely be a 10 pound baby. She was born a few days before her due date. I think I was 39+4. She was only 7lbs 9oz! She was tiny! I had absolutely no newborn clothes because I was expecting this huge baby. And honestly I had two other babies that were 8lbs 13oz and 8lbs 14 oz so 9 pound babies and they felt no different coming out than my 7 pound baby. Dont let them scare you! Tou got this Momma!!

Honestly it doesn't make much of a difference at this point. Babies grow at a different rate in and out of the womb. There's a lot of variables, ultrasounds can be off by 2lbs either direction, he could slow down on his growing, speed up on his growing, could come early, could come late, your due date could be slightly off, could be 12lbs, could be 7lbs. Either way, I'm hoping for a happy and healthy pregnancy and delivery for you and bubs ❤️

Neither. 🙂 Size has nothing to do with development or maturity and ultrasounds are often very wrong, which is precisely why they can’t be used for dating purposes past the first trimester.

My son measured 3weeks ahead & he was almost 2 weeks late. It doesn’t mean baby will come early just means they look a little bigger than average.

Mine didn’t really measure ahead (only a few days) and both were big. Ultrasounds are off for weight either way (bigger or smaller). If they always measured ahead (like at your 8 week when dating and sauce are more accurate), then maybe they will come early but this far into pregnancy the size estimates aren’t very accurate

You can’t always go with what they measure in an ultrasound. With my first I went into labor at 34 weeks and they told me that if they couldn’t stop labor that at least he was already 5 lbs. They said he was a big baby. Well they got labor to stop and he came at exactly 40 weeks. He was 7lbs 10oz. Not as large as they said. You just never know.
