Promise Rings: Meaningful or Kinda Stupid?
M= Meaningful
S= Stupid
Personally, I like the idea of a promise ring. I think it's a nice way of showing commitment even if it's before you're really ready to get engaged.
One of my exes got me a promise ring, but things went downhill and we broke up before I got out. It was a good relationship, and we still occasionally message each other to catch up, but it just wasn't gonna work.
My current boyfriend got me an $8 promise ring during KawaiiKon of 2019, about two months into the relationship. Call me a hopeless romantic, but we both really felt, and still feel, like we were just meant to be together. We're only 19 and obviously not getting married anytime soon, but its so great to know that he still feels the same way even without an actual engagement ring involved yet.
I still have the ring, but the little flower fell off the top. It was cheap, but I still keep it because it just means so much to me.
I also feel that promise rings don't even have to be pricey. Hell, mine was $8 and it still means the world to me. I also think promise rings don't even have to be just a promise of engagement. Could be a promise of anything. Promise to sober up after drugs, promise to never tell a lie, etc.
I'm curious to see how other people view promise rings. I know some people think they're stupid and a waste of money, but I personally disagree.
