First ultrasound timeframe?

I am now 4 weeks 2 days. I have had several very clear positive tests. I talked to my doctor about making an appt. They said there is no way to confirm and they don’t want to do an appt until 8 weeks minimum. On here I see people with ultrasounds at 5,6, and 7 weeks. Is it odd that my OB is asking me to wait to even come in? This is my first baby so I am new to this and not knowing anything is hard. I will be honest I know the basics but i don’t know everything to do. It makes me nervous to wait.

I’m at a fertility clinic. So I’ll get weekly ultrasounds and labs done till I’m 12 weeks . But with my singleton pregnancy I only got like 4ish one at like 4 weeks to confirm one at 7 weeks and 12 weeks and 20 weeks. ultrasounds threw a reg ob. My Ob doesn’t do the dating ultrasound until 8-10 weeks. Most people who get the earlier appointments are going in because of history of miscarriages, complications, etc.

I’m only getting an early scan because I’ve been working with a fertility clinic. They will see me through 1-2 early scans before referring me out to my regular OB.

I agree with Callie. I think many women getting early scans are doing so due to complications. Although, (at least in the US) there are plenty of private ultrasound places where you can pay and get a fairly early scan. 
My OB is also very flexible and is pretty much willing to let me schedule and early. It would be out of pocket cost though and not covered by my insurance if the OB didn’t think that scan was necessary. 
My first scan is scheduled at 9w 2d. I have had one early miscarriage, but that does not qualify me as high risk. My OB office schedules most women’s first appointments during the 8-10 week period. 
Don’t stress too much. Maybe look for a different OB who is willing to see you sooner or find a privately owned ultrasound place where you can pay out of pocket to see your baby earlier. Good luck!!

A lot of people with the early scans are having them because of previous losses or complications. But ever clinic is different and it is very normal to have to wait until 8 weeks.

dating scans or pregnancy confirmation appointments are usually between 6-8 weeks depending on where you live. Mine is for 8 weeks too. But with my daughter, i went in early bc i was bleeding. some places don’t see you till 12 weeks. it just depends on where and who your office is

I didn't see my first until I was 19 weeks since I was regular and knew my LMP. I was scheduled in at 11 weeks with my second since I conceived during breastfeeding and we weren't sure how far along I was (I was right on, she was the only one that I had implantation bleeding with although my last period would have made me 3 months further lol)...
This one I'm scheduled at 10 weeks and not expecting to get the ultrasound until the next trimester. 
I'm never sure why they get such good treatment 😂😂😂 jk.
You'll get to see them daily in a little time 😉
