Did you get to use your favourite baby name?

Question

Or did you have to compromise because your partner didn’t like it or the name had already been used by a close friend or family member? 
I’m also interested to hear what your favourite name was if you didn’t get to use it!

Compromised for both our kids. I wanted our first to be Arlo and my husband wanted Stanley (ugh right?) but we both liked Henry. So he is Henry.
For our second I loved Theo or Arthur. My husband wanted Elwood or Crosby. We both liked Oliver so Oliver he became.
No hurt feelings. And now that these boys are real, physical beings we both can’t imagine them having any other names.

With my daughter I got to use my favorite name but with my son... Well, we'd had his name picked out for ages and then less than a month before I was due, my aunt gave birth to her son and used the name we were gonna use. The name was Dylan. However I'm actually really happy we chose to change it to Caspian after that. It's really grown on me and I adore it. Still a bit salty though 😅

Yep. All four of our babies have names that are my favorites. My hubby isn’t really big into names and never really had ones he liked enough to suggest so I’ve always named our kids. He hasn’t complained about their names once. 🤷🏼‍♀️ I do take a lot of time into researching and picking the name that feels right in my heart for our kids, so I am super grateful I didn’t have to settle on a name we both only somewhat like.

My DH and I discussed baby names 7 years before we even started TTC. The good thing about that is that we know what names are long term favourites and not just a trend of the moment. The problem though is that a few of our top names were subsequently knocked out as other people close to us chose them for their kids. Our number 1 girl name is still free so if we have a girl we’ll use that. Our number 1 boy name was Samuel (Sam) and we couldn’t use that with DS as my SIL named her son that. We are still happy with our choice though and can’t imagine him being called anything else now.

I didn’t use my favorite baby name. My favorite was Gianna. My husband hated it until I was about 6 months and he said it was starting to grow on him. He eventually said he could like the name enough to use it, but then it didn’t feel right to me all of a sudden. We ended up using a name we both agreed on.

Pregnant with my daughter I loved the name London.. her dad didn’t like the spelling so we changed the O to a Y and it’s my favorite. ❤️ Londyn❤️

I loved the name Olivia until I heard 3 girls being called that in IKEA and decided against it. I also love the name Aileia and have major regrets not using it.

I used my favourite name for my daughter! My boyfriend loved the name. For this one I let him choose since I chose our girls and at first I didn’t love the name at all but now it’s grown on me and I absolutely love it
