Successful induction story for those of you that are wondering...

I had a successful induction on May 20-21. The process started at 5pm on May 20. I was admitted to the hospital to start Cervadil to soften and help dilate my cervix. I started at 1 cm dilated and 50% effaced. Then I went to sleep (bed is extremely uncomfortable). By 6 am the following day I had moved to 2 cm dilated 70% effaced. Doesn't sound like much but they considered it successful. They took the Cervadil out and I took a quick shower and got ready, which was nice.

They started the Pitocin drip at 7am. I progressed to 3-4 cm by 3:00pm. I then requested an epidural. The contractions weren't horrible but the cervical checks were very uncomfortable and I didn't want to do that anymore. The epidural was the worst part for me. The anesthesiologist had trouble finding the spot and kept poking around.

They broke my water around 3:30 pm and things moved pretty quickly after that. I went from 4 cm to 8cm by 8pm. Then I started feeling the contractions and the epidural was wearing off so I got pumped up to a "delivery dose". My doctor delivered 10 babies that day so from 8-10pm I was pretty much just waiting for him and for baby to engage to start pushing.

My doctor finished his other delivery at 10pm and it was time to push. I pushed from 10-10:30pm and then he was born without any issues! I had a grade 2 tear and my doctor delivered the placenta and stitched me up and it was all over!

Overall it was long, but uneventful, which is the best I could ask for. So to break it down a total of 15 hours of actual induction time not counting the cervical ripening. Not bad for a first time mom!
