Things I wish I knew when starting HighSchool‼️

ja

1: High school isn’t anything like the movies 🎥 In my experience is less popular mean groups and the geeks, and more social and anti social. Of course bullying is still a thing but overall people will treat you with respect as long as you’re doing the same. As a freshman, upperclassmen can be scary but most don’t mean harm and many are social and nice to everyone. So don’t worry, Regina George isn’t gonna be waking down the halls in slow motion to ruin your high school experience. (Just don’t be obnoxious and loud in the halls because after all, you don’t own the school.)

2: Don’t shy away from trying new things 🧪 In high school you’ll have a lot more opportunities to try new things, so join the club ! Try out for the team! Sign up for that interesting class! This is a great way to learn about your options in the future, and make new friends. Also, it doesn’t hurt to have some extra curriculars on your college application. It’s important to try new things, but keep in mind not to spread yourself too thin and your grades are most important!

3: Have good relationships with your teachers 👨‍🏫 Your teachers are there to help you. I’ve seen so many students who fail test and classes and just say. “Well the teacher doesn’t like me.” In high school you have to understand that the teachers mean well, and you’re responsible for yourself and your grades.

4: Get stuff done ✅ Unlike middle school, high school teachers will not chase you down to retake a test, or turn in a assignment, things like that will be outside of class and on your own time. So get things done on time to save yourself from making up points later.

5: Have fun 🎉 I know it’s scaring going in to high school but I promise you, you’ll have so much fun. You have NO IDEA how much I miss goofing off with my friends (and even the teachers lol.) If you get to return to an actual school anywhere between freshman and senior year I hope you know this time in high school is not something to take for granted. (Also don’t miss out on school dances my friends and I had the time of our lives last HOCO)
