Masks in labor?

I know this is probably different from hospital to hospital but does anyone know if they are making the birthing mother wear a mask in labor. I don’t mind wearing them to the store and stuff, but doing my breathing exercises it will be literally impossible! I’m trying to have a natural birth and I can just see it really stress me out and make if difficult to breathe.

Mine is requiring mothers and support persons wear a mask the whole time. But if both of us test negative (we’re tested before going to the birthing center), I plan on ripping mine off as soon as I get into the room. I’m healthy and the staff isn’t giving birth. I’m all for being absolutely safe, but making a healthy LABORING person wear a mask in a controlled environment is overkill in my mind.

I will refuse to wear one for labor. What are they gonna do? Send me out to the parking lot? Good thing I’m a lawyer.

I will not wear one while I’m pushing. They will have to fight me! I’ll wear one anywhere and everywhere, gladly, but not in late labor or pushing! That’s cruel!

After reading multiple threads concerning this topic I called and asked my hospital. She said that they are not requiring laboring women to wear them and said it would be too restricting for women giving birth. I’m in eastern wa state just for reference. I would definitely call ahead of time and ask.

I am in Michigan and my hospital is requiring a mask any time there is someone other than myself and my support person in the room.

I’m in northern ca and the hospitals require a mask... I’m not having my baby at a hospital due to that and the fact that you’re only permitted one support person.

I'm in Georgia and the mother and support person will have to wear at mask anytime someone else is in the room. It is going to be uncomfortable but they are trying their best to keep everyone safe.

Definitely depends on where you are located.  I had my pre-admission check in with labor and delivery and they said the only time my husband or self have to wear a mask is if we leave our room. The door to our room is to remain shut. This is assuming we both test negative at the time of check in.

Our hospital automatically tests mom for COVID upon arrival. Negative test means no mask, positive means mask for mom & dad, and they take baby for 2 weeks after birth without holding or seeing baby. 😭

My hospital is. It's going to be horrible I know🤦🏽🤦🏽 I already feel like imma pass out in the store or at the doctor with it on. I can only imagine trying to do breathing exercises and pushing with one on lol. As long as baby gets here safe and sound and she's healthy that's all I'm concerned about really.
