Do you put lotion on your baby after a bath?

Question

My baby is 5 months old. I give her a bath everyday, but I don’t put lotion on her afterward because her skin isn’t dry. I used to when she was a newborn and had dry skin, but not anymore. 
My mom stopped by the other day and mentioned how she used to always put lotion on me after a bath and it made me wonder if I should be doing that too. What do you do? I’m a FTM (first time mom). I just want to make sure I’m doing the right thing.  Thanks :-)

I only bathe baby 1-2 times a week but I lotion him 1-2 times a day even if his skin doesn’t feel dry.  It’s just part of a routine for us

I always lotion myself after a bath and I still do it for my three year old. I use a lavender scented one to help relax him before bed. It’s good for the skin and a good relaxation technique and physical touch is always nice for little ones. :)

My little had very sensitive skin and liked to eat her hands and arms so I used coconut oil. Didn't have to worry about her getting lotion in her mouth that way.

I mean it’s ultimately up to you but if the baby isn’t having discomfort from dry skin, you don’t have to. And if you choose to, try using fragrance free or like lavender scented ones specially made for baby skin. It can help with dryness and overall skin health, especially in the winter times

Patting baby dry and instantly putting lotion on helps lock in moisture to the skin. Babies tend to have dry skin so this is helpful.  We use a cream instead of a lotion. Its thicker and locks in moisture better. (It fits my childrens skin needs better)

I bathe my daughter every day & almost every time after a bath if we aren’t in a rush I put lotion on her. Idk I always grew up with my mom doing that to me that I do it now🙂
