Emotional child...
I have an 8 year old who has been grieving on and off the death of her hamster. The hamster died in March this year. It is now June. My child is grieving still, from time to time. Is this a normal amount of time? I am thinking she is more sensitive than other children but I am not around many children to know what is a more average level of sensitivity in children. I do find her being more emotional or crying over the loss of her pet when she’s already emotional from something else (like feeling reluctant to do online school during quarantine but needing to do it anyway, crying over that, and then she’s remembering her hamster and then crying over that...)
I think also she may be so deeply affected because it is her first experience with loss and the permanence of death. Just don’t actually know.
