i have a question about taxes?? please help

i’m 19 and i just got my first job (i know i was really lucky to not have to have one in high school). i’m a full time student and just finished freshman year. i’m from a low income household and i’m still a dependent.

i’m filling out the information for my w4 and it’s asking if i’m claiming that i’m exempt from paying withholding taxes this year? i have no idea what this means, and i’ve tried searching how to tell, but idk if i meet the qualifications because i’ve never had a job before or filled out a tax return.

i talked to my parents and they don’t know either.
