A poll for the nighttime kitchen cleaners
Its Thursday night, you successfully got the kids to bed and your husband is in his office working on his hobby. You walk into the kitchen and it is a disaster. Dirty dishes from both lunch and dinner overflow out of the sink and on the table, scraps of dinner lay crusted on chairs and on the floor, all of the pots and pans used to make dinner are still on the stove and full of leftovers that haven’t yet been put away.
*sigh*
You put in your earbuds, listen to your book and get to work.
An hour and a half later, the table is clean, the dishes are hand washed, dried and put away (you don’t have a dish washer), the floors are swept, the leftovers are happily in the fridge, the pots and pans are all back in their rightful places and even the coffeemaker is set and ready to brew in the morning.
And then your husband comes in. Your sweet, hard working but occasionally wildly unhelpful husband comes into your beautiful kitchen and puts one dirty plate and fork next to the sink and walks away.
Are you frustrated? Do you feel disrespected? Unacknowledged? You just spent an hour and a half cleaning the damn kitchen and he can’t do ONE dish? Or do you accept that the mountain of dishes are done and at some point the mountain has to begin again?
