A full year in the books

Lauren

Today I feel a sting in my throat realizing that this little baby is now more of a little boy. I am so immensely grateful for the opportunity to be Jack and his big sister’s mommy. Watching them grow brings both an achy, but incredibly happy heart.

Jack entered this world one year ago on a beautiful, sunny, early-afternoon with blonde hair, blue eyes, and a port wine stain “birthmark” covering the right side of his head, face, neck and chest. In the last year, that birthmark and related anomalies has taught us a lot as we’ve watched him undergo eye checks, laser treatments, MRI’s, hospital admissions, and most recently, open heart surgery. Those things may be a part of his story, but what really sums up our little superman’s first year is his bravery and strength, his beaming ptooth-filled smile, his laughter, curiosity, cuddles and determination. The sleep deprivation and stress is 100% worth it. There was a time it didn’t seem possible that he’d ever be here, and now he completes our family 💙

Wishing a very happy 1st birthday to my little man!
