name off limits????

so i’m not even close to knowing the gender but me and my husband love talking about names for the future baby and we have always had a name for a boy or girl ready for when we do find out this is baby number 4 and we can’t seem to agree on anything ... well here’s my question 
i love a certain name for a baby boy but my husband thinks  he can’t use it since it’s a name of co works deceased father ...and he would feel bad saying the name around him ...
my bro has been working for his best friend since he was 16 and now the friend owns a mediacal delivery company so my bro got my husband a job there and the friend of my bro  is the brother of the deceased guy (who’s name i like) who hired his nephew ... and that’s who my husband is acquainted with now.
the guy was a nice guy but he died over 16 years ago.
so is wrong that i think it’s ok ? i mean just cause the name is different if his name would have been michael and we named are son micheal no one would think any thing of it....

I think it's ok to use, but honestly if your husband is uncomfortable using it don't do it. He's the one who has to face the people it could upset everyday, not you, so of course it's a bigger issue for him. I think you should pick a different name

How about you flip the script. Instead of him thinking about his coworkers feelings he can consider yours instead. He can go to his coworker and tell him you guys really like this name and he would want his blessing on it because he doesn’t want to disrespect or hurt him. The coworker might feel honored and give the ok then everyone is happy.

I guess I’ll be the odd one out and say I think it would be weird. The fact that your husband even knows the dad’s name makes me think he is close enough with the guy that it would be weird. The name reminds your husband of dead people, so why keep pushing him on it? There are plenty of other names that won’t remind your husband of dead people.

It’s sweet of him to consider his co workers feelings but the dearth was so long ago, I don’t think his co worker will think anything about it. The thing is though, if your husband feels strong about this, you might want to look into other names. We just changed our soon to be daughters name cause I just didn’t like the name anymore but my husband was in love with it, I felt bad telling him I didn’t like it anymore but this is our baby, we should both be happy about her name that we will call her for the rest of her life.

Tell your husband it will be a great way to remember him. Maybe that will help. He might want a way to associate this person with his baby. Tell him that it would be a great thing to do. Naming a baby after someone who was clearly very loved

At first I was like sure, why not?  Name your kid whatever you want.
Then I thought about my mom, who passed away 2 1/2 years ago...  Jer name is pretty unique and I just know I would be weirded out if someone gave their kid my moms name.  A coworker is someone you interact with every single day and of course you are going to talk about your kid.  I just don’t think I could bare it if her name kept coming up.
But if it is a common name, I think that might be a different story.  Also, it’s been 16 years so maybe the guy won’t mind as much?
I did read where you said you are going to ask the family..and I think that’s great!
But do you honestly think they would say no you can’t use it even if they really truly didn’t want you to use it?   
They my just say yes just to b polite but still feel uncomfortable with it. 🤷🏾‍♀️

My mom died an I’m going to name my child after her it’s a respect thing , an 16 years ago ? That’s a pretty long time , he shouldn’t think of death when he hear the name it should be peace because god take to give
