6/6 Birth Story (emergency c section)
Avery is here 🥰 Born at 6:08am, 8lbs 1oz and 19 inches tall
My water broke at 9:30 on 6/5 and we headed to the hospital immediately because I am GBS+ and I was trying for a VBAC. I labored for about 8 hours and felt really confident that I could have him naturally. But when the midwife checked my cervix she said she could no longer feel his head. An ultrasound confirmed that he FLIPPED and was now breach. While I was in active labor!! I didn’t know that was possible.
About an hour or 2 later, while waiting for the Dr to be ready to do the c-section, I no longer had any breaks between contractions and felt a ton of pressure so I was checked again. His foot had come through my cervix and was just hanging out at +3. Literally just right there in my vagina. Since I didn’t have an epidural already in place they couldn’t do a spinal so I had to go under general anesthesia. It was hard for me to come to terms that I would be missing the birth of my own son. But he arrived safely and is perfectly healthy.
Thank you for all your kind words and wishes on my other post (midwives brew). Overall we had a pretty great experience, it was just some bizarre fluke that resulted in a c-section. Completely unpredictable, like my last one. There was nothing anyone could have done. I guess my two babies were both just meant to come through the window instead of the door 😅💙
