Mask during labor - Am I the only one worried about this?!

So, I wear a mask in public. I understand the risks and the fact that people can be asymptomatic and still have COVID. Totally get why health care workers have to wear masks. 
But I asked my OB and my birthing center’s policy (as of now) is the laboring mother must be wearing a mask anytime hospital personnel are in the room. Does this freak anyone else out?! How will we breathe while pushing?! Just remembering my first labor experience and trying to wrap my head around it. I can hardly breathe without a mask. Lol calm me down! 😂

They can’t mAke me. I have severe asthma and there is no way in hell I’ll be able to keep a mask on during birth and they can bite me. I’ll keep it on when I get there but once it gets to the intense stuff im taking it off, I already can’t breath well just wearing it to the store. I don’t even know my hospital policy on it but I won’t wear it during the final event, I know I’ll pass out. I do plan on testing before labor so I might not even have a problem. I want to know for my babies sake that I’m negative before she gets here

Man. I am so not looking forward to having to wear a mask while delivering this baby. My first labour my hair in my face annoyed me, I can only imagine how fed up with a mask on, I’m going to be.

My sil was asked to wear a mask as long as her covid test resutt came back. After tha  she was allowed to remove it... But I took about 4 hours.

My friend had a baby recently (Massachusetts) and although the rules was to have a mask, once she was pushing they let it slide ! I think they try to enforce it but know it isn’t always practical

Yeah no. I’ll wear one to my room if they insist, but no way in hell will I wear one has I’m in agony. I’ll take the damn thing off if they even try it. What’s the worst they can do? Make you leave? Can’t deny a labor woman care.

They put an Oxygen mask on while pushing, so a cloth mask won’t be necessary during that part

Do you know anyone else whose delivered at your center? I’m in a pregnancy covid FB group and the majority of what I’ve seen is those who said they were told that, that once they actually were in labor and struggling they they allowed them to take the masks off. So it may be a “policy” but maybe not strictly enforced. Also, we still have a couple months too, things can still change.

I’m also terrified. I can’t breathe without one on never mind wearing one. I’ll honestly probably tell them to suck my ass if they tell me too 😂

My friend had a baby in May and she only had to wear the mask until she got in her room then she was able to take it off.  I really hope I don’t have to wear one cuz I can’t breathe well in those and my last labor didn’t go well with baby not breathing cuz my BP and temp went to high and put him in distress so hopefully that isn’t the case.
