Infertility testing?

Me and my husband have been trying to conceive for 1 year. We are both 26 and I've been having semi-regular cycles (I experience 2-3 months of 28 day cycles then the odd 50ish day cycle). I've been off birth control pills 7 months prior to actively TTC. We are located in Canada and looking for the next steps to take. I read that you can have some testing done at the Doctor's office before going to see someone at a fertility clinic. Does anyone know exactly what tests they can do at your GP's office?
