I had my first ob visit after ultrasound with nurse practitioner in week 8. Front desk selected the nurse practitioner that was available.

Then for my second ob visit in week 12, they assigned me DO, again they selected the doctor over the phone. I asked for MD doctor but they said only DO is available.

Now for my third visit in week 16, they are saying I will switch again to nurse practitioner. For again week 20, it will be DO.

Is this common? Or should it be same doctor throughout the pregnancy? Or this could be just due to shortage on staff because of COVID-19?

Do you select your doctor or does the hospital assign you the available doctor.
