Weird grandparent names

Elyssa

Has anyone ever dealt with a parent or in law that wants to be referred to by a version of “grandma” or “grandpa” that you really don’t like? What are your thoughts?

My mom has been telling me and her family that she wants to be called “Grandmama” bc it reminds her of downton abbey and she likes it... she literally even says it with a weird inflection like she’s trying to sound British *cringe*

I don’t know if I’m overreacting but I just think it’s sounds SO dumb. Also seems like a slightly too difficult name for a little one to say when learning to speak.

Has anyone dealt with a similar situation? Am I just overreacting?
