Paddle for spanking (recs?)

Hey everyone, I was just wondering if anyone has any recommendations for paddles to use for spanking? Right now my boyfriend just uses his hand but I want to get something that will leave a heart shaped mark on me and he thinks that’s cute too. We’re also just starting out with this so what’s good to start with? Leather? Wood? A combo? Some other material? And does it hurt more if it’s bigger or smaller? I’m just not sure what to try first, but I’m really excited!
