Newborn constipated I think ?

Hey I’m a new mom my baby is 5 days old and hasn’t pooped today . She’s a formula fed baby she drinks enfamil . Today I seen her what seemed to be straining and crying a little like she couldn’t get something out ?! And she hasn’t pooped today yet so I’m wondering if she could be constipated and if so what can I give a newborn baby for it???

You need to massage her tummy and do bicycle legs(move her legs in the motion as if she were riding a bike).  It’s really common.  Also, newborns don’t always poop everyday and sometimes they poop several times a day.  She has a brand new digestive system that is just getting adjusted.

You can try putting Vaseline on a q-tip and inserting the tip into baby’s butt. This worked with my twins when they were newborns. I know  it sounds weird it really does help though. Almost instantly.
