Normal Toddler Behavior??

Question

I’m just posting this to try and find out if it is normal for my toddler to act like this or see if something might be wrong.
My daughter is 21 months old and she is honestly.... a monster for lack of better words. If a toddler could be diagnosed with adhd, I would say she has it. I love her more than anything but I am losing my mind over here! 
Here is a list of some of the things that happen all day every day:
•pulling me up to go into the kitchen but she doesn’t even want anything 
•throwing literal hitting screaming biting tantrums at the drop of a pin
•if she doesn’t immediately get what she wants, it’s the end of the world
•cannot sit still for more than 5 minutes
•it’s like she doesn’t even hear me when she’s doing something she shouldn’t be
•does not listen to ANYTHING I say
•no discipline works
•she needs attention ALL DAY. I cant step away for a moment without her freaking out   
•rarely plays independently 
•makes me hold her and carry her around whenever I’m up and doing something 
•I swear, she is being mean for 10 hours every day 
•won’t let her father do ANYTHING for her, it has to be me
•wakes up during the night 2-4 times and rises early in the morning 
My toddler is the boss of ME. She does not care what I have to say. And if she is just rotten (nothing medically wrong with her) how do I go about fixing this? It’s been like this for months and only getting worse. I am a SAHM and dad is home a lot too.
I can tell that she is not happy and I need to change it but absolutely nothing I do will help her. I swear I’ve tried everything.

Sounds like a normal toddler except for the fact that you seem to be giving in to a lot of stuff that you don’t need to. Just because she wants attention every second doesn’t mean she needs it. Stand your ground, do some redirection, positive reinforcement, and safe ignoring. Use first then statements: “first you play for a little, then mommy reads to you.”  “First pick up your toy, then I give you a hug.” Etc

Your toddle sounds like a normal toddler. Your a SAHM and she sounds very attached to you and that normal. Also having a toddler sit longer then a few minutes is not easy for them. What kind of activity do you do with her? Some fun activity to try would be puzzles, play dough, coloring, painting, even some outside time too. Also as for biting and hitting. You could try a two minute timeout and also tell her that’s hurts and you give mommy a ￼ boo-boo. Toddlers are not a easy age and every toddler has different personality and some are more challenging then others.

I have been doing a lot of reading on strong willed girls at the toddler stage. I have one too. The best thing I have read so far is No Drama Discipline. It has helped me understand her cognitive development and how best to communicate at her level. Good luck!

I think it would be helpful to start trying to get her to recognize her emotions. You can start by pointing out your own emotions and asking her to look at your face. Mommy is sad that you . Mommy is happy because you picked up your toy ! See mommy’s face? Mommy is happy. Put a mirror in her room or playroom at her level so she can see what her face looks like when she is happy or upset and ask questions like are you angry? Why do you think you are angry? What can we do to help you be happy? Like anyone, the first step in managing emotions is recognizing them. Toddlers behaviors are built around their emotions so it’s up to us to point out those emotions so they can start to learn how to identify them.

My toddler does 90% of this. I would consider this normal behavior of a very strong willed toddler lol my daughter has had an extremely stubborn personality from the day we brought her home and we know she’s going to be a tough yet very loving child.
Toddlers don’t quite understand why they can’t have what they want immediately so they throw tantrums and you have to tell them things 10374839 times over. They don’t know how to control their emotions and tend to test you by doing something they know is wrong. My daughter literally just started drawing on the floor while looking me dead in the eye after I repeatedly told her we don’t do that. 
So normal behavior for a toddler and this is why they call is the terrible 2’s. It will end eventually 🤞🏼🤞🏼

My first was a bit less like this though had her own set of frustrating things. Our second is like this dead on. It’s normal. It’s awful. It will end. By 4 they start to act more human and less wild animal/tyrant. Be consistent. Don’t let them get away with things. Keep rules and fallow them. Kids do best with structure.

Sounds like normal toddler behavior. You just have to quit giving in. Make sure she has a routine for each day. Make sure she’s able to run some energy off every day. Don’t let her be the boss of you. Let her throw a fit. Put her in a pack n play when she’s acting up and just let her scream. I had a pediatrician tell me it was fine to do that. To check on them after about 15 min and then walk away and don’t pick them up until they quit. I only had to do it once and only for right at 15 min. They learn quick!
