Anyone have any experience with fertility doctors being covered by insurance, specifically in NC?

I have blue cross blue shield and INFERTILITY is not covered. But you should honestly just call. They can look up your plan and tell you exactly

Call and ask. Just having the same insurance company says nothing about what’s covered by your specific policy.
I’ve never, ever had any insurance coverage through an employer that covered fertility treatment of any kind. I had to fight with the insurance company over the cost of blood tests and ultrasound to diagnose me with PCOS. They tried to say that it was specifically fertility testing when at the time I was actively preventing pregnancy and just trying to find out why my cycles were so erratic.

I have BCBS and all my fertility doctor visits and treatments are out of pocket unfortunately

Not sure where you are located but my bcbs covered my surgery and fertility doctors before and after. You just have to make sure that they are part of an hmo(?) group. Never hurts to find a doctor and check to see if they accept that coverage or call the insurance and se if they cover that doctor

I have Blue Shield through work and I live in CA. My situation is different since my employer has purchased additional fertility. I would say call customer service to discuss what is covered and what is not.. thats probably your best bet. Or you can create an account and go through what is covered through the portal.
