Father’s Day rant 🙄

Just needed to rant for a minute.

So as we all know Father’s Day just passed. This year is my fiancé’s first Father’s Day as our first baby was born almost 4 months ago. I was scheduled to work that day for evening shift which I didn’t even really think about because the next day on Monday we were planning to go out of town and visit his family so I figured that was like the fathers day celebration so no need to ask for the day off. Well it comes around and my fiancé was actually kinda sad when he realized I didn’t ask for the day off. Only because it’s his first Father’s Day otherwise he wouldn’t of minded. I understood because I would’ve been really sad if he wasn’t able to spend the day with me on my first Mother’s Day. So I started checking with the other employees in our company to see if anyone was wanting extra hours and would we willing to cover for me. There was no one that wanted to which I expected so I was just like oh well I tried. So one of my coworkers that I had asked to cover for me suggested I ask the person I’m working with if they would be okay sending me home early once the side work was done and business was slowed down. She said “of course no problem!” And seemed like she fully understood and had no issue with it. She even told me I could pull my drawer waaaay earlier than I planned. So of course I think everything’s okay, leave and go enjoy the Father’s Day evening with my fiancé and his dad. Well I came to work today and apparently she’s been going around to everyone saying “that wasn’t a good reason to leave early” and “I left her by herself the whole night”. I can understand being annoyed and thinking it’s not a good reason but why not say that when I asked instead of making me think everything’s fine when it’s really not? If Someone asked me this and I wasn’t okay with it I would say that not lie to them and talk about it to everyone else later. I’m also never late to work,never call in, and rarely ask to leave early. I will always ask before the schedule is posted if I need a day off but typically I plan things around my work schedule not during since I work the same days each week so it’s just really frustrating that she’s acting this way. First times are huge for me because you only get 1. I can always find a new job so of course I was trying to to be there but I would’ve understood if she told me no because I didn’t ask for the day off. Just really annoying. 🙄
