Herpes testing

Does anyone know if it’s true that having chickenpox or HSV 1 can give a false positive for HSV 2? I’ve always had cold sores growing up, so I know I have HSV 1 and according to my medical history online, I’ve had chickenpox in my system... I also saw that a testing in January showed positive HSV 2, so I’m wondering if my doctor never said anything because it could be a false positive?? How do you get a real positive or negative then?
