Tattoo Help?

Question

I already talked to the artist who did the tattoo and they said it looked fine but I wanna get some others opinions. It's also the first time I have gotten color.
It feels very sore,  it's also seems like a thick layer of skin and irritated. Its also hot and is red around it. I got it about 5 days ago and I have been cleaning and moisturizing twice a day, like I was told to do by the artist.

Update: I talked to the person who tattooed me she said there might be some sort of infection starting, and to not worry. She suggested using witch hazel for a week and see if it helps. I started using it and it does look a bit better and I see some nice healed skin peaking through! It's only been one day but I think it looks better.

Update part 2: everything looks ok as far as I know I did end up taking off part of the scab with a long sleeve tshirt (which was pretty scary 😅) it also seems like I may have scarred a tiny bit as well
*I usually sleep in a loose long sleeve shirt st night so it doesnt rub on the sheets since we have a dog*

It looks like it’s still healing. He seemed to have a VERYA HEAVY HAND and the inner layers are still healing. Keep it clean and moisturized! Give it a few more weeks!

I'm sorry but I would not go back to that artist. He looks like a was way too rough with the red and the bottom hand is not proportional

It looks completely normal but it's definitely still healing. Keep cleaning it twice a day and moisturizing with Aveeno or aquaphor. Try to avoid excessive sweating and keep it out of direct sunlight and you'll be fine. The heat you're feeling is normal with a healing tattoo also. Good luck!

The artist was heavy handed as shit. Wash twice a day, use dial soap, and keep moisturizing with aveeno. Don’t use scented lotions and DONT USE TOO MUCH. If you have sensitive skin, it’ll be like that for about a week or so. Don’t panic, your artist just went deep on that color. The line work looks solid .. so I don’t get why he fucked up your color, unless he’s mostly black and grey? I’m married to a tattoo artist btw. 🙃🙃

Most people have reactions to red or green inks because of the metals in the inks. Let it dry and heal. It doesn't look infected, redness, swelling and streaking happens with an infection. It would be red around the irritated part. Honestly it looks like the artist chewed up the skin and made it very angry. Try some benadryl and ice packs plus whatever else you are doing.  I have reactions to colored inks...

What are you using to moisturize it? I suggest aquaphor if you aren’t already using it. The wound itself is still fresh so hard to tell if it’s a possible infection.. I’d wait two weeks to see how it looks.

Cleaning it twice a day is probably to much. You’ll want to leave it alone as much as possible, wash it once a day in the shower and apply moisturizer after and as needed. I agree with the other girl who said he used a very heavy hand

I wash my tattoos with very hot water and non perfumed dial soap, pat dry, and I use I scented lotion- nothing too ointment like. Never leave it too moist, you want a nice thin layer, nothing thick. It does seems they were a bit heavy handed, but not to a point that would concern me. It looks like you might be keeping it too moist or too coated. Also make sure it sees no sun, wear loose cotton clothing over it or stay in the shade and out of heat as much as possible.
