Anybody else’s baby?

Question

Throwing themselves back and falling to the ground arching their back and hit their heads really hard on that fall to the ground. How do you stop it?

I just help to lower my son to the floor otherwise he hurts himself, then I just let him lay there to calm down usually only does it for about 30 seconds, then he gets back up like nothing happened.

My daughter does this when she's upset if we keep her from doing something unsafe or playing with something she shouldn't play with. What we usually do is stand by her and if she starts to throw herself back we just gently help her to the floor so she doesn't hit her head. That's about all we can do and we just let her feel her feelings and she usually gets over it very quickly.
